Living in Potters Bar
We consider ourselves extremely lucky in Potters Bar and Brookmans Park, to be based in an area surrounded by stunning Green Belt Hertfordshire countryside and ancient Hertfordshire woodland, with an abundance of paths (including the Hertfordshire Way) to walk, run or cycle.
There are numerous parks, a tennis club, a cricket club, a Football Club, and several golf clubs in the area. There is also an excellent leisure centre complete with swimming pools and plenty of sporting opportunities for all ages. Lots of local clubs cover many other hobbies and interests, including a popular U3A. The Wyllyotts Theatre/Cinema complex offers a wide variety of quality entertainment.
Just a short distance away from Potters Bar Town Centre are many places of interest, such as Hatfield House, St Albans, The Galleria, Willows Farm, Forty Hall, Capel Manor, and Crews Hill Garden Nurseries.
Local supermarkets have a good selection of kosher foods, whilst kosher shops, restaurants and takeaways are just a short drive away. The main shopping areas have many shops offering quality services, where "can I help you?" means just that.
There is a wide range of housing available in Potters Bar. There is everything from bungalows (we have been referred to as 'Bungalow City') to family homes and apartments.
Several excellent primary and secondary schools operate in the area.
Many people coming into the area say that the quality of life is noticeably more agreeable than within the M25 area.
Potters Bar has excellent road and rail links. It is conveniently situated close to junctions 23 and 24 of the M25, and very near the A1. By train, Kings Cross is just 20 minutes away and Cambridge is just 1 hour away. Great for a day trip!
For the Underground, the Piccadilly Line is at nearby Cockfosters, and the Northern Line is at nearby High Barnet. Both are short journeys by car.
Heathrow, Luton & Stansted airports are all about 40 minutes away. Living in Potters Bar has SO much to offer!
